Problem #1

Single button cBarge can be used whilst the phone is registered to UCM but the single button method is not supported in SRST. Therefore we should disable Single button CBarge  within UCM configuration and use the softkey method at all times.

Within UCM a new softkey template is added to include the cBarge button for the Remote In Use state as shown below:

High Availability Series #5: CFUR and Call Routing SOLUTION

Please find the solution to  yesterday’s challenge- thanks to everyone for sharing your thoughts. Looks like my questions need to be more difficult next time:-)

So let’s take a look at it step by step of what happens when extension 400X has been called by a caller at Site-A or Site-B.

(1)   The Internal CFUR setting of extension 400X is used since the caller is calling from a device that is registered to the UCM. The CFUR-internal number will be the new Called Number to route the call to the next hop.

(2)   The CSS that is used to route the call to the next hop is NOT the CSS configured on the Site-A or Site-B device that is calling but rather the CFUR-internal CSS of the destination.

In this blog we will discuss some of the problems CFUR causes with respect to call routing. I’m hoping to make this an interactive blog so please document any further questions and your solutions in the comments section at the end.

Background Information

We have an enterprise with phones and gateways at three sites, which are known as Site-A, Site-B and Site-C. The UCM cluster is located at Site-A. Site-B and Site-C are remote sites that have devices registered to the UCM cluster at Site-A.

In this blog we will assume that we have a remote site located in London that has lost accessibility to the UCM cluster which is located at the Headquarters in Washington DC (had this article been written prior to 1776 it would have been the other way around:-).

The phones in London are registered to the London SRST gateway – the method we have used for SRST is unimportant but we shall assume that Unified CME has been used for SRST purposes with “srst mode auto-provision all”. The SRST configuration is shown below (FYI).

In this article we will look at some severe problems related to using Unified CME (telephony-service) as a method of providing SCCP device support whilst the UCM cluster is unavailable to branch phones.

In the example we will use, the following configuration has been used on the SRST gateway:
