CCIE certification isn’t an easy thing. Months and even years of studying, experience and hard work are required to pass the grueling battery of written and lab examinations. After it’s finished, you can relax… or can you?

Cannot Solve a Core Task – CHEAT!

When might we have to “cheat” on the CCIE Lab Exam? If you have a core task that you cannot solve per the task requirements, consider breaking the task constraints in order to obtain connectivity or the basic requirement of the core task. What exactly is a core task in the lab exam? My simple definition is that a core task is any task that can effect future task points.

A great example of a core task would be one that connects your CCIE Lab devices to a security restricted backbone so that you may obtain routes through several protocols. The routes obtained in this task permit you to acquire other points on these routes typically. These core tasks can be some of the most tense moments in the lab exam, since failing to connect properly to the backbone devices can truly mean lab exam failure. And to make matters worse, when it comes to backbone connectivity, there is at times no way to cheat, especially if it involves a Layer 2 WAN protocol or routing protocol with authentication that is needed in order to make the connectivity.

Firewall Modes Part 3 – Transparent Firewall Configuration

VN:F [1.9.6_1107]
Rating: 4.5/5 (2 votes cast)

After reading the overview and the guidelines for the Transparent Mode of operation here at the IPexpert Blog, you should be ready to deploy an ASA in Transparent mode if your design requirements warrant it. Keep in mind that when you make this very drastic configuration change on the device, the ASA will clear its running configuration. Why does it do this you might ask? Very valid question. The ASA clears the running configuration because so many of the commands that could potentially be there are not supported in Transparent mode. We discussed this fact in the Guidelines document. For example, your Transparent mode device does not support dynamic routing protocols, including Multicast routing.

The startup configuration is retained. Be careful about this. For example, if you make the cut over to Transparent mode and then fail to save the configuration, upon a reboot your device will load the startup config and revert to the Routed mode of operation. This could prove to be an unwelcome surprise and a great amount of support calls.

Congratulations to IPexpert’s Latest CCIE Success Stories!!!

Join us in congratulating the following CCIEs on their great achievement;

  • Jason Maynard CCIE #29033 (R&S)

Kayode Adeagdo (Listed in our May 13th Success Story) Stated:

“The CCIE journey is not a common one, so i opted for an un-common institution for my preparations. I had made enquires about the best CCIE Training institutions around when I finally made up my mind to give the CCIE Security lab a good shot after some good numbers of years deploying network security solutions.

I then met a friend that had her CCIE Voice Bootcamp at Ipexpert Inc and she told me she was well trained and she got her number after being trained at IPexpert and using the proctorlab. So i decided to book my bootcamp with ipexpert Inc.

I love IPexpert for the level of professionalism displayed by all the staffs that i related with. From Mike and Philip to Cat Porter. Tyson Scott was too much for me. I got double for the value that I paid. The CCIE Security Workbook was very helpful and the mock labs were super eventhough they were tougher compared to the real exam but what better way could one be prepared for the ‘dreadful’ CCIE Lab!

I enjoyed every bit of my CCIE Security Bootcamp experience with IPexpert and the proctorlab was easy to use without issues that I have heard concerning other rack rental organisations.

I must confess that IPexpert is a place to be and their blended learning solutions are worth buying for self-paced studies.”

IPexpert is proud to boast the world’s largest list of CCIE success stories, and the industry’s most complete and updated self-study portfolio for the CCIE Routing & Switching, CCIE Voice, CCIE Security, and CCIE Wireless Lab exams. Have you also used IPexpert or Proctor Labs to help you pass the CCIE lab exam? If so, we want to hear your story! Please email us at success@ipexpert.com.
