Today’s topic is going to be the desktop phone control from Cisco Personal Communicator Client, CUPC, via CTI and its configuration both in CUPS and CUCM.

As many of you are aware of, the CUCP’s CTI phone control is performed directly from the presence client itself via CTI/QBE interface, in other words the CUCP talks to the CUCM CTI Service to control the designated desktop phone, there’s no intervention of the CUPS in the process.

We’ve heard from a few different vendors that some of their self-study clients have passed this new, and extremely different CCIE R&S 4.0 Lab exam…well, today we found out that one of our clients actually passed the 4.0 R&S Lab back in November. We’re not 100% sure, but we believe he’s the FIRST 4.0 student to pass – and we’re proud to announce that he used our CCIE R&S Blended Learning Solution as his primary means of preparation! This is great news – coming a few days before our entire CCIE R&S 4.0 Workbook product portfolio ships, and with less than 30 days before our entirely overhauled CCIE R&S self-study product portfolio is 100% completed (Video on Demand, Workbooks – and Detailed Solution Guides – Vol 1, 2 and 3, Video Solutions (for WBs 1 and 3) and Audio Lecture Series). We’re confident that if we can help a client pass with portions of our updated material – then our students that are able to use our entirely updated portfolio will have even better, faster results!

It was long expected that Cisco would update the now aged Service Provider CCIE track. There were speculations, thoughts, even ideas about the track being cancelled. The update was long awaited and … it still is! Today we’ve heard about completely new Service Provider oriented track. Cisco calls it Service Provider Operations. We’ll call it SPO (credit for acronym goes to certain time traveler, Dr. Wholafur).

What exactly is this new track? First of all, it’s not only CCIE. It’s an accross-board track. There will be CCNA SPO, CCNP SPO and CCIE SPO. The focus seems to be on next generation networks (NGN) operations, troubleshooting and configuration. While curricullum is not yet published for lower level certifications, little information available points us in the somewhat lesser hands-on approach. Usage and analysis of data from network management systems (NMS), tools and protocols seem to have prominent space accross the three levels.

I’ve got great news to all of our aspiring CCIE candidates out there! We’re pleased to announce that this coming Friday (the 29th) ALL of our CCIE workbooks will be shipping (most are available now, with just a few of them being wrapped up and completed!). It’s been a looooong and challenging journey for us (due to all of the changes recently made on 3 of the CCIE Labs!), but our workbooks are finally overhauled and ready to ship!  I have to say, these are the most incredible technical products we’ve ever released!
