My name is Otto Sanchez, and I joined the IPexpert team this week as a Support Engineer, so I will be supporting the Online Study List for the CCIE Voice Candidates, and also writing posts related to the CCIE Voice lab subjects of general interest.

In this, my first post, I wanted to talk about the documentation, as for some of you this is the starting point when preparing for the CCIE Lab journey.

As you may already know, during the lab time, you are allowed to access only the Cisco online documentation http://www.cisco.com/cisco/web/psa/default.html? And some documents in the pc candidate desktop. However, you are not allowed to perform any search through the Cisco web page or any other web page, so why not get used to the Cisco online documentation from the beginning?  You will gain incredible speed by the time you sit in the lab.

Although there are many excellent voice publications out there, you should be able to reference all your configurations to the online documents and do it quickly. So below is a list of some useful documents you will need during your CCIE Voice studies, which indeed cover most of the CCIE Voice Lab Blueprint V3.

  • Deployment Guide for Cisco Unified Presence Release 7.0

There was a question in the OSL about the reading the command references guides. Use them when you need to know more about a command and its arguments, it’s not necessary to read these documents cover to cover.

Is important to remark that you should not restrict to these documents during your studies, there are many more documents available still, use this list as a reference and to know further about the technology tested in the lab.

Please feel free to suggest any other topic CCIE Voice topic you want to read in this blog.

Stay tuned for more posts,

Regards,

Otto Sanchez

    This is a nice recommendation but there only one or two items can be found using the names listed above. This would be a great post if this links to the named documents would have been listed also. I spent over two hours just looking.

    @John,
    Thanks, good point! that’s actually one of the intentions of the post, a CCIE voice candidate should be able to locate documentation without performing a Cisco webpage search, and do it quickly, if I would have given you the links you wouldn’t probably focus on learning where to find them. Next time you try to find the docs it will take you for example 30 min, and the time after that 10 min, and so on until you do it in a few seconds, that’s the ability needed in the lab exam. However if you can’t find a document still, please let me know
