Bryan stated:
I wanted to pass along that on October 1st I passed the CCIE R&S in RTP. I was surprised with how “easy” the lab seemed to be after working through the various lab workbooks. Workbook 2 seemed to give me an accurate representation on the overall lab difficulty. While I found the labs in workbook 3 to be incredibly challenging they provided much needed practice in time management and troubleshooting self induced configuration issues. This was particularly important during my lab as I introduced a significant issue into my lab but I was able to quickly isolate and resolve the problem based on the experiences working with the more difficult lab scenarios.
I would also like to take the opportunity to personally thank Joe Astorino for his assistance in passing the lab. I attended Joe’s 5-Day Instructor Led Bootcamp and 1-Week Lab Experience in Columbus Ohio. Not only did Joe know the material backwards and forwards his template based approach to completing the lab tasks significantly reduced the amount of time I spent configuring during the exam. This left me significantly more time to go back and verify my work. Once the course was completed Joe still went out of his way to make himself available to me in the weeks leading up to my exam. It’s these “little things” that set Joe apart from other instructors I have worked with in the past.

Bryan,
Again HUGE congratulations my friend!!! Having personally helped you along the way was a great thrill for me! Like I said on the phone, the best part of my job is when people call me to say they passed. I know how much you wanted it, and how hard you worked to get there and you deserve what you got. Hard work pays off.

And what is this “Template based approach” you speak of?
